Sedgwick anchors the show as the inimitable Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, but she does not create this excellence in a vacuum--she gets outstanding support from crackerjack scripts and the other members of the cast, who are all colorful and loveable in their own right.

“Kyra Sedgwick is so good for this part as assistant chief Brenda Lee Johnson, who runs Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 16, 2013 Actually, my comments cover the episodes in the first 4 1/2 seasons, not just Season 3. This is a thoroughly enjoyable series with good episode stories as well as an interesting story line that follows through all of the seasons and into the Major Crimes series that follows after the end of The Closer series.

Meanwhile, Brenda must also deal with her mother, Willie Ray (recurring guest star FRANCES STERNHAGEN), whose visit to Los Angeles is preventing Fritz from moving in with Brenda. This is just the best series ever.

Though I am hard-pressed to pick a favorite among the supporting cast, I have to say that Jon Tenney as FBI Agent Fritz Howard is the hottest Feebie ever, in or out of the real Bureau!

Kyra's selects feature guest stars Daniel Baldwin, Mary McDonnell, Xander Berkeley and Kyra's daughter, Sosie Bacon, in an episode directed by husband Kevin Bacon.

The series was created by James Duff, and produced by Greer Shepherd. I enjoyed the fellow who plays Chief Pope and who also has appeared in the Coen Brothers movie, "Burn After Reading."

Also, a little too maudlin at times, although mostly a balanced presentation, pretty good over all. The shooting, which took place in a known gang area and which has all the markings of a gang-related crime, leads Brenda on a complicated trail of clues that could tarnish the image of one of the victims.
