We walked in right after the opened. I was hoping for the best with this new spot. The restaurant also hosts several private dining areas, including a full-service bar, two dining rooms and a loft-style bar, located on the second floor. Hoboken residents, both past and present, have spoken highly about the original La Isla, and that sold me on the spot even before I put a foot inside. I decided to stop by on a Wednesday afternoon. The best out of all 3 appetizers was the papa rellena. Absolutely loved it and I have leftovers for tomorrow!

There was too much of it, making it sickly. BYOB.The comfortable and familial environment at La Isla makes it a great place to grab a casual meal any time of the day. My family and I ordered the french toast, chicken soup, Cuban sandwich, bacon with avocado sandwich. I looked around at the patrons and then I understood why I had lackluster food.An extremely mediocre Cuban restaurant.

I'm still trying to figure out how it has stayed amazing and how the prices have barely changed. How is this business handling reopening? Portions are ok, not large but that's fine. As if that is not enough, The Cuban will feature live entertainment that will have your foot tapping and your voice humming. Ended up waiting for another 15 minutes and came home only to find items missing. It took almost 1 hour, which included the 30+ minute delivery to Edgewater. A few of the tables were a little too close to one another, and for some reason,  they didn't utilize the whole sidewalk as other places did. The chicken fricase was very good, not as good as mine but good. Would def recommend the stuffed plantain. The service is great. Drinks here are pretty strong so beware. The Yucca fries were overcooked. Specialties: Authentic Cuban food with a full bar, specialty craft beers and a 40+ wine list featuring the best from Spain, Chile and Argentina. Its well lit in the front, but more relaxed (darker) towards the rear of the restaurant. Of course we have our staples that we must get when we come, but have had quite a few menu items for dinner/lunch as well as brunch and everything is great!
