Not exactly the tragedy of the century, is it? Great work also from guest actor Alex Hassell as Mark, he played the dark undercurrents particularly well. How does he know another one hasn�t stubbed its toe? Why does Jack jump to the conclusion from seeing one Weevil groaning that somebody�s torturing Weevils? Great work as always from the regular cast, it was nice to see more of Tosh and Ianto too, they often seem underused, and are two good actors. Tosh questioning Jack’s using the Weevil as bait is a very nice touch. Mickey Smith from Doctor Who, and what a great job he did! Even the Angel and Battlestar Galactica versions of this episode suck and this was a terrible episode.
I enjoyed this episode, it was the best one for a couple of weeks.

Nor is it even slightly unusual. Then at the twenty-five minute mark, we realised where the script was going. It was nice to see a bit of payoff for the Gwen/Rhys story. Deciding you�d rather be mauled to death than take the time to stick your heart back together? But then going further and manipulating her partner�s memory just to make herself feel better makes Gwen about as admirable a figure as Owen. The team discovers a ring who are kidnapping Weevils - wild alien creatures that have come through the Rift and are hiding on Earth - which leads Owen down a dark path to confront the future of his own existence. What a wimp.

As for Gwen, expecting Rhys to forgive her is amazingly self-involved: after finding out exactly why his girlfriend�s been treating him like shit, naturally that�s going to be Rhys�s prime concern, isn�t it? The first two series of Doctor Who featured more side-characters than ever before, really examining the companion's home life like the Classic Series never did. I hope we have more character back stories and history in the next series, as it can be hard to warm to characters without it, and even harder for the actors when all they have is action sequences and the events of that weeks story. We�d call this an oxymoron, but that would be a waste of the first two syllables. In my household we have really enjoyed Torchwood and look forward to series two. I also really hated Gwen retconning Rhys. It was nice to see a bit of payoff for the Gwen/Rhys story.
